eToken PKI Smart Card Solutions
eToken PKI Solutions enable PKI applications to operate, generate and store private keys and digital certificates inside the USB-based eToken or an eToken Smart Card, creating a secure environment and allowing full portability and maximum ease of use. The eToken PKI Solutions contain all PKI components and drivers necessary for seamless integration with industry products. The user no longer needs different passwords for different accounts - just the eToken password. All authentication data is securely and portably stored on the eToken and can be used with any computer configured for eToken use.
Public Key Infrastructure technology enables a number of security services, including strong user authentication and non-repudiation of transactions. PKI Signatures and Certificates
In today's increasingly digitalized business world, organizations must be able to rely on available methods of identification, which often rely on information provided by computers. A Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) provides an effective solution for securing eCommerce and network access services.
A PKI is comprised of protocols, services and standards, which support various applications for a Public Key Infrastructure. In a PKI, each user is allocated a cryptographic key pair, which is comprised of a public and a private key. These two keys have a unique mathematical relationship to one another. The public key is distributed publicly; the private key is kept secret/safe/secure.
Digital Signatures
A digital signature is created with a private key to validate a document, mail, etc. This technology can be used to prove/track the authenticity of various transactions. The advantage of both the authentication level and the digital signature depends on the degree to which the private key is kept secure. eToken PRO offers the maximum level of protection as it allows for authentication and signing with the private key from the token itself.
Digital Certificates
Digital certificates are comprised of electronic bits that prevent the misuse of a public key by an individual. A certificate binds the public key to a specific individual. Generally, certificates contain an expiration date, the name of the certificate authority (CA) that has issued the certificate, and a unique serial number.
